Upper West side is home to an important landmark, the St John the Divine Cathedral. According to Wikipedia, this is the fourth largest Christian church in the world.
Today I will show you a few images from Roosevelt Island, as some call it the best kept secret of Manhattan. Technically, from the organizational point of view, this is also Manhattan. Islanders can travel to Manhattan by subway or by the newly renovated cable car (tram) , which is also a Manhattan tourist attraction.
Images from last year’s Easter Hat parade on 5th Avenue
Spring day in Central Park, last year.
While I’m waiting for my car’s oil change, I decided to try mobile blogging and this funny post titlte came to my mind.
The more hits I get for my blog, the beter. The list of countries where my viewers are keeps growing, and the latest addition is Vietnam.
So, HIT ME!
As I wrote here before (and as you saw in my pictures), New York is the city of street parades. One of the most spectacular is the Gay Pride Parade. Looks like this is a world wide phenomenon. Everybody, gay or not, has a lot of fun, under the careful watch of NYPD officers and politicians do not miss this great opportunity to gather some votes. This year’s parade is coming soon, but in the meantime please enjoy my images from last year’s event. Hopefully I’ll be back with 2012 images once current year’s edition takes place.
In 2011 Roosevelt Island Operating Corp started to organize a cherry tree festival, to celebrate spring and the beautiful cherry tree promenade on Roosevelt Island. It also honored the victims of the of the powerful earthquake and tsunami which struck Japan in 2011. It was a nice warm afternoon, combining spring beauty with Japanese traditions. See images below.
I was away for a short vacation in New England and was not able to post any new Manhattan images. To my surprise, hits kept coming, now totaling over 7500. That means that 10000 hits is just around the corner, which is really nice. It also makes me think that 100000 hits by the end of this year may not be out of reach after all. Therefore new Manhattan pictures will be coming , as regular as possible. As my recent trip produced lots of great pictures, I will not post them here since they are not Manhattan oriented. I might however start a new blog soon , for the rest of my images. What do you think? Any feedback will be much appreciated.
